Re: ICL7135 ground loop. The HP3456 is not using dual slope but multi-slope. In many respects this is a little in between the dual slope and the sigma delta ADC found in cheap high res ADC chips like MCP3421. For the resolution the 7135 is "only" 4.5 digits, and thus +-20000 counts, but the DNL is rather good.
